Rooted in Christ

Scripture: Colossians 2:6–7

Pray:

That every student, teacher, administrator, and family at SCS would recognize that our identity and lives must be rooted in Jesus Christ. Please pray for our K4 Teacher and TA Mrs. Kyle and Mrs. Burnman, our K5 teachers Miss Steciw and Mrs. Logan and their TA Miss Vannoy. Also pray for our 1st and 2nd grade Teachers Mrs. Potts and Mrs. Bangco, and their assistant Miss Greene.

Prayer:
“Father, help us to become deeply rooted in your son. May we not build our lives on popularity, achievement, athletics, academics, possessions, or the opinions of others. Establish our identity in Christ and make SCS a community that follows You faithfully. Amen.”

DAY 2 — September 4

Rooted in the Word

​

Scripture: Psalm 119:105

Pray:

That God's Word would guide the decisions, conversations, teaching, and lives of the SCS community. Today please remember our 2nd Grade teachers Mrs. Gower, and Mrs. Powell, and our 3rd grade teachers Mrs. Polnak and Mrs. McLean as well as their Assistant, Mrs. Tatum.

Prayer:
“Father, give our students a hunger for Your Word. Give our teachers wisdom to teach truth faithfully and give our families a desire to read and obey Scripture together. May Your Word be a lamp to our feet and a light to our path. Amen.”

 

 

 

DAY 3 — September 5

Rooted in Prayer

Scripture: 1 Thessalonians 5:16–18

​

Pray:

That prayer would become a natural and consistent part of student life. Today please also bring our 4th grade teachers Mrs. Smejkal and Mrs. Myers, and our Discovery teachers, Mrs. Anderson and Mrs. Bolinger. Please also pray for our 5th grade teachers Mrs. East, Mrs. Asbury and 4-5th grade TA, Miss Brock.

Prayer:
“Lord, teach our students to pray. May they learn to bring their fears, questions, struggles, hopes, and decisions to You. Create a culture at SCS where prayer is not merely an event but a way of life. Amen.”

 

 

 

DAY 4 — September 6

Rooted in Identity

Scripture: 2 Corinthians 5:17

Pray:

That students would understand who they are because of who Christ is.  Today please remember in prayer our Lower School Principal Mrs. Hemphill, Administrative Assistant Mrs. Cason, Substitute Coordinator Mrs. Clodfelter, SalemKids Director Ms. Shoffner, Campus Pastor Skip Furrow, and Lower School Worship Leader, "Miss Jackie"

Prayer:
“Jesus, protect our students from finding their identity in the approval of others. Remind them that they are valuable because they are created by You and that, in Christ, they are made new. Help them live confidently from their identity in You. Amen.”

 

 

 

DAY 5 — September 7

Rooted in Truth

Scripture: John 8:31–32

​

Pray:

That students would recognize, love, and stand firmly on biblical truth. Our teachers and staff today to pray for are Enrichment Interventionist Mrs. Fletcher, LIbrarian Mrs. Surratt, Music Teacher Mr. Brown, P.E. teachers Mr. Cornell and Mr. Stephenson. Please also pray for SCS Art Teacher Mrs. Clinard and Speech Therapist Mrs. Sigmon.

Prayer:
“God of truth, protect our students from confusion and deception. Give them discernment as they encounter competing ideas and messages. Help them love what is true, reject what is false, and graciously stand upon Your Word. Amen.”

 

 

 

DAY 6 — September 8

Rooted in Character

Scripture: Galatians 5:22–23

​

Pray:

That the fruit of the Spirit would be evident in the lives of SCS students. Today also pray for our Upper School Discovery faculty and staff, including Mrs. Cole, Mrs. Jennings, Ms. Jackson, Mrs. Weaver, Mrs. Webb, Mrs. Vlas, Miss Underwood, Mrs. Gallegos, Ms. Chapman, Mrs. Anderson and Miss McKinney .

Prayer:
“Holy Spirit, produce Your fruit in us. Grow love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, and self-control in our students. May their character reflect Christ in the classroom, on the field, on the stage, and at home. Amen.”

 

 

 

DAY 7 — September 9

Rooted in Worship

Scripture: Romans 12:1

​

Pray:

That students would understand worship as more than singing—it is offering their entire lives to God.  Please pray for our Middle School Teaching staff: Mr. Server, Mr. Reams, Miss Moazon, Mr. Adams, Mr. Arnold, Mrs. Baker, Mrs. Copeland and Mrs. Pallaci.

Prayer:
“Lord, help us worship You with our whole lives. May our students recognize that their academics, athletics, friendships, talents, work, and future all belong to You. Teach us to live as an offering of worship. Amen.”

 

 

 

DAY 8 — September 10

Rooted in Community

Scripture: Hebrews 10:24–25

​

Pray:

For strong, Christ-centered relationships among students and staff.  Please pray today for our Headmaster Mr. Rick Clinard, and High School Principal, Mr. Sam Smejkal.

 

Prayer:
“Father, build a community at SCS where students encourage rather than tear one another down. Help us notice those who are lonely, hurting, or overlooked. Give our students friendships that point them toward Christ. Amen.”

 

 

 

DAY 9 — September 11

Rooted in Courage

Scripture: Joshua 1:9

​

Pray:

That students would have courage to live openly for Christ. Please pray today for our Fine Arts Director Miss Melton, our Maintenance Director, Mr. "Phil" Mustin, Director of Operational Advancement, Mrs. Cook, and Marketing and Communications Director Mrs. Stone. Please also pray for our Kitchen Staff: Mr. Fischer, Mrs. Bordeaux, and Miss Dayoh.

Prayer:
“Lord, give our students courage. When following You is unpopular or difficult, help them stand firm. Give them courage to pray, to speak truth, to invite others to know Jesus, and to live differently because they belong to You. Amen.”

 

 

 

DAY 10 — September 12

Rooted in Compassion

Scripture: Colossians 3:12

​

Pray:

That students would see others as people created in God's image and respond with compassion.  Please pray today for our Admissions Director Mrs. Myers, our School Nurse Mrs. Pegram, Alumni Coordinator Mrs. Watson and
Social Media Assistant Mrs. Beebe.

​

Prayer:
“Lord Jesus, please give our students Your heart for others. Help them recognize classmates who are hurting and respond with kindness. Remove selfishness, cruelty, and indifference from our community and replace them with compassion and love. Amen.”

 

 

 

DAY 11 — September 13

Rooted in Family

​

Scripture: Deuteronomy 6:6–7

​

Pray:

For SCS parents and families to disciple their children faithfully. Please pray today for High School Administrative Assistant Mrs. Smith, Student Accounts Manager Mrs. Lambeth, and our Business Office Manager Ms. Clark.  

​

Prayer:
“Lord, strengthen the families represented at Salem Christian School. Give parents wisdom, patience, courage, and consistency as they disciple their children. May our homes reinforce what is taught at school, and may Christ be at the center of every family. Amen.”

 

 

 

DAY 12 — September 14

Rooted in Teachers

Scripture: James 1:5

​

Pray:

For wisdom, strength, patience, and spiritual vitality among every teacher and staff member.  Please pray today for the members of our School Board and the Chairman of the Board, Mr. Deaton. Please pray also for our Academic Advisor and Guidance Counselor Mrs. Archenbronn.

Prayer:
“Father, strengthen our teachers and staff. Give them wisdom for every student and every situation. Guard them from discouragement and exhaustion. May they see their work as a calling and faithfully point students toward Christ through both their teaching and their example. Amen.”

 

 

 

DAY 13 — September 15

Rooted in Leadership

Scripture: Proverbs 3:5–6

​

Pray:

Pray for the Pastor of Salem Baptist Church Tim Miller and the administration of Salem Christian School that we would always Trust in the Lord and and depend upon HIm for leadership and provision.

 

Prayer:
“Lord, give wisdom to those who lead Salem Christian School. Help them trust You rather than their own understanding. Give them unity, humility, courage, discernment, and a desire to honor Christ in every decision. Amen.”

 

 

 

DAY 14 — September 16

Rooted in Protection

Scripture: Psalm 121:7–8

​

Pray:

For God's protection over students, families, faculty, staff, and the SCS Campus.  Please pray today for Mr. Drake as he maintains and prepares our school transportation, and for "Mr. Wayne" McAnally as he works to protect our campus, students, and families. 

 

Prayer:
“Father, watch over our school. Protect our students physically, emotionally, spiritually, and relationally. Give wisdom to those responsible for campus safety and help our entire community remain attentive to the needs of one another. Amen.”

 

 

 

DAY 15 — September 17

Rooted in Witness

Scripture: Matthew 5:14–16

​

Pray:

That SCS students would be a light for Christ wherever God has placed them.  Please pray today for our High School Teachers: Mrs. Drake, Mrs. Bianco, Miss Campbell and Mrs. Carter.  

​

Prayer:
“Jesus, make our students lights in a dark world. May their words, choices, attitudes, and actions point others toward You. Help them understand that their witness is not limited to church or school but extends everywhere they go. Amen.”

 

 

 

DAY 16 — September 18

Rooted in Evangelism

​

Scripture: Romans 1:16

​

Pray:

That students would have opportunities and courage to share the Gospel.  Please pray for our High School Teachers Mrs. Hepler, Mrs. Anderson, Mrs. Lanier, and Dr. McNeill. 

​

Prayer:
“Lord, give our students opportunities to tell others about Jesus. Remove fear and replace it with boldness and compassion. Help them understand the power of the Gospel and trust You with the results when they faithfully share Christ. Amen.”

 

 

 

DAY 17 — September 19

Rooted in Revival

​

Scripture: 2 Chronicles 7:14

​

Pray:

For spiritual awakening among students, families, churches, and schools throughout our community. Please pray for our High School Teachers, Mr. Pegram and Mrs. Smejkal.  

​

Prayer:
“God, revive our hearts. Begin with us. Turn our hearts toward You, expose the areas where we have become spiritually complacent, and draw our students and families into deeper fellowship with Christ. May revival begin in the hearts of Your people and spread throughout our community. Amen.”

 

 

 

DAY 18 — September 20

Rooted in Unity

Scripture: Ephesians 4:1–3

​

Pray:

That Christian students and churches throughout our community would unite around Jesus Christ.  Please pray for our Athletics Director Andy Brannigan.  

​

Prayer:
“Father, unite Your people. Remove division, pride, competition, and distraction. Help Christian students from different churches and schools recognize that we belong to one body and serve one Lord. May See You at the Pole be a picture of the unity of Your people. Amen.”

 

 

 

DAY 19 — September 21

Rooted for the Future

​

Scripture: Jeremiah 29:11

​

Pray:

For the future lives, families, careers, ministries, and callings of SCS students.  Please pray for our fall coaches, Coach Bryson, Coach Baker, and Coach Phillips. 

​

Prayer:
“Lord, You know the plans You have for every student. Prepare them for the future You have designed for them. Give them wisdom in their decisions and help them pursue Your calling rather than simply pursuing success. May they become the men and women of God You have designed them to be. Amen.”

 

 

 

DAY 20 — September 22

Rooted at the Pole

​

Scripture: Acts 1:8

​

Pray:

We covet your prayers for God's work in and through the "See You at the Pole" event tomorrow. Please also pray for Coach Cornell, Coach Bowen and Coach Webster.  

​

Prayer:
“Lord, prepare our students for tomorrow. Give them courage to gather, humility to pray, and boldness to stand for Christ. Bring students together who genuinely desire to seek You. Let tomorrow be more than an event—let it be an expression of hearts already rooted in Christ. Amen.”

​

Pray specifically for:

• Students who will attend See You at the Pole

• Students who are nervous about participating

• Student leaders who will help organize the gathering

• Teachers and administrators who will support students

• Students who do not yet know Christ

• Spiritual awakening across SCS and our community

DAY 21 — September 23

Join Us Today at "See You at the Pole"!

Scripture: 1 Timothy 2:1

Pray:

That students would boldly gather around their school flagpole to pray for their school, families, friends, teachers, community, and nation.  Please pray for Coach Paluci and Coach Steciw  

​

Prayer:
“Father, today we come before You together.

 

We pray for Salem Christian School. May Christ be honored in our classrooms, hallways, athletic fields, stages, offices, and homes.

We pray for our students. Root them deeply in Christ. Give them courage to live for You and compassion for those who do not yet know You.

We pray for our teachers and staff. Give them wisdom, strength, patience, and joy as they invest in the next generation.

We pray for our families. Strengthen marriages, encourage parents, and make our homes places where faith in Christ is lived and taught.

We pray for our community. Use our students as lights for the Gospel wherever you send them.

And we pray for revival. Begin with us. Turn our hearts toward You and awaken a generation that will know Christ, love His Word, follow His ways, and boldly proclaim His Gospel.

Lord Jesus, root us in You. Build us up in You. Establish us in the faith. And use us for Your glory.

Amen.”

 

 

A Final Challenge

​

For these 21 days, don't simply talk about prayer—pray.

Don't simply ask God to change our school—ask Him to change us.

Don't simply pray for students to be bold—pray that we will be bold.

And don't simply pray that students will become rooted in Christ—make sure you are rooted in Christ.

​​

September 23 is not the finish line. It is an opportunity to see what God can do when His people pray.
